The police on Saturday arrested a youth who was involved in a series of house break-ins at Kalapet near here.
According to the police, a team, led by Muthialpet Inspector Hemachandran, was formed to probe a series of house break-ins in the houses of retired employees of private companies in Kalapet area.
Breakthrough achieved
After investigating the habitual offenders in the region and the neightbouring districts of Tamil Nadu, the team zeroed in on Suman alias Sreeman, 23, of Marakkanam in Villupuram district during a vehicle check at Kanagachettikulam.
During interrogation, Sreeman confessed to his involvement in the crime.
About 34 sovereigns of gold jewellery was recovered from him.
He was produced before a local court and remanded in custody in the Kalapet Central Prison.
