YSRCP plans padayatra

Alleging utter negligence by the government to the development projects including Veligonda and Ramayapatnam port, proposed in Prakasam district, the YSR Congress Party has planned a padayatra later this month.

Announcing this to the media here Wednesday, former YSRCP Chief Whip in Parliament Y.V. Subba Reddy said it was unfortunate that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had taken no step to ground the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) for which the Centre had already given a clearance by completing land acquisition and creating a special purpose vehicle (SPV). The padayatra will cover the most backward western parts of the district where a majority of the people are suffering from water with high fluoride content.

“Even after the Centre had ruled out the port project proposed at Dugarajapatnam, the State government is yet to suggest the name of Ramayapatnam for the purpose. The aviation project proposed at Donakonda also remains a non-starter,” Mr. Subba Reddy pointed out.

No-confidence motion

In response to a question, he asserted that the YSRCP had no ‘secret understanding’ with the BJP. “It’s the TDP chief who shared power with the BJP for four years. He might have such understanding with the latter,” he said. Referring to the no-confidence motion moved by the TDP, he said it was discussed in the Parliament but the ones moved by the YSRC were not allowed. Contending that the Chief Minister was in a habit of taking U-turns at the drop of a hat, he said after describing the Special Category Status (SCS) as no ‘Sanjeevini’ to Anhra Pradesh , Mr. Naidu settled for Special Assistance Measure (SAM) without taking major parties in the State into confidence. “However, he (Mr. Naidu) did a flip-flop by changing TDP’s stand in support of the SCS as the people of the State are overwhelmingly waiting for it. But, it was the YSRCP MPs who had brought the issue to limelight by resigning to their seats in Lok Sabha,” Mr. Subba Reddy added.
