On Saturday, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and the national president of Telugu Desam Party N.Chandrababu Naidu met the new President of India, Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The TDP has extended its support to her and this is the first meeting of Naidu with Murmu after she was elected as the president in recent times.
Chandrababu Naidu was in Delhi to grace the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav held by the prime minister Narendra Modi. Naidu said the purpose of meeting Murmu is to felicitate her on her victory as the president of India. He also said that his party extended never-ending support to her and all the party officials voted in her favour.
Naidu further said Murmu would be an epitome to the backward sections of society. Afterwardsm Naidu attended the meeting on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which is an initiative of the central government to celebrate the 75 years of India’s independence.
The grand event began on March 12, 2021, which is a 75 weeks-countdown upto the Independence day on August 15, 2023. The TDP had pulled out of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in 2018, protesting the Centre’s refusal to sanction Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.
