Flooded ICU at Patna’s Nalanda hospital has patients, and fish

The Nalanda Medical College Hospital (NMCH) in Patna, considered the second-largest government hospital in the state capital, was flooded with rainwater after heavy rainfall lashed the city on Saturday.

Patients were seen lying on the bed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) which was inundated with rainwater. Fish were also spotted in the water.

Speaking to ANI, a health department official said, “The process for throwing water out of the place is underway. Pumping plant is working continuously.”

Water logging was also reported outside the residence of Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi.

Heavy downpour in the city has halted hit normalcy since Friday, with water logging leading to traffic snarls in several parts of the state capital.

The India Meteorological Department issued a bulletin on Saturday warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across several places in the state till August 1.
