Level of hemoglobin is low in the body? How to increase hemoglobin

Hemoglobin usually increases within 2-3 weeks of starting the iron supplementation.  A person with the reduced levels of hemoglobin may benefit from eating more iron-rich foods. Iron works to boost production of the hemoglobin, which also helps to form more red blood cells.

What is hemoglobin?
Hemoglobin is a protein found in red blood cells found in our blood. With its help, oxygen reaches all the organs and the cells. Along with this, hemoglobin itself transports carbon dioxide from the rest of the organs to lungs. Hemoglobin is very important for any person to have a normal level of hemoglobin to remain healthy. Decreased hemoglobin also affects the immunity of the person. According to the  health experts, hemoglobin level should be 12-16 in women and its normal level in men is 14-18.

The foods that increase hemoglobin level-

·         Red meat, such as beef, pork, and poultry.

·         Peas, beans, and other legumes.

·         Seafood.

·         Dark leafy greens, such as spinach and kale.

·         Dried fruit, like raisins and apricots.
