Following a directive from the Union Home Ministry, Delhi Police registered a case in connection with a “rape threat” to the minor daughter of Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi. Ms Chaturvedi received the threat on micro blogging site, Twitter.
A Home Ministry official said the threat to Ms Chaturvedi’s 10-year-old daughter was taken very seriously by the government and instructions were issued to Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to take stringent action against the accused.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Tughluq Road police station.
The Home Ministry had earlier asked the Mumbai Police to register a case in connection with the threat.
The Ministry also asked Twitter India to furnish details of the account from which Ms. Chaturvedi received the threat.
